Each student has unique needs and circumstances.  SSE offers six diverse programs each with their own mission as well as general support:

  1. Compass Program: The Compass Program opens the door to CMU for students who exhibit high potential for completing a bachelor’s degree but whose academic record falls just short of CMU’s standard admission requirements. Compass Program participants take regular CMU courses while receiving extra academic support and one-on-one advising designed to help them successfully transition into college life during their first year. The Compass program also helps students to develop learning strategies, navigate degree paths, understand college and personal finances, and set goals for their college experience.
  2. GOALS: GOALS Program provides academic and personal assistance to Mavericks that want to transition from a two-year Associate degree program into a four-year baccalaureate degree program. This program gives you the skills, tools, and motivation to make sure the transition is successful.
  3. TRiO: TRIO - Student Support Services serves first-generation students and/or students that meet low-income guidelines and/or students with documented disabilities. The program helps students achieve their academic potential through workshops, mentoring, academic advising, career counseling, financial planning, as well as professional and personal development. The funding source for TRIO is through a grant from the United States Department of Education.
  4. COSI: The COSI program, or the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative, gives Mavericks in financial need opportunities to pursue their college degree by providing scholarships. The program also couples tuition assistance with student support, which allows CMU to provide COSI scholarship recipients with success coaches to support them in their higher education careers. COSI is a program of the Colorado Department of Higher Education.
  5. Mentoring: The Mentors are CMU professionals that assist students in several ways. This includes advocacy, negotiating faculty/student relationships, and supporting students through their college and life transitions. Mentors help all students to develop as a "whole person" by connecting them to useful campus and community resources and support. The Mentors also run the on-campus food and clothing bank for Mavericks to utilize.
  6. Scholarship mentoring: Scholarship mentoring and advising is provided in SSE for recipients of the Guardian, Reisher, Daniel's Fund, or Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) scholarships. Please only schedule if you are a recipient of one of these scholarships.
