Distance Education: Off-Campus Instructions

A guide for students accessing library resource off-campus or online

Instructions

When researching from off-campus, many library databases will require authentication that you are a Colorado Mesa University faculty or student. Typically, this means you'll enter your CMU username and password (like like for email, MavZone, and D2L!)

Sometimes, like when requesting a book from another library, you will be asked for your name, Library Card Number, and your "PIN" (or personal identification number), like this:

  • Your Library Card Number is the number on your MAVcard that begins with 408.
    • If you get an error message with your 408# it may be that the number changed, e.g. if you have a new MavCard, or you have a hold on your account for some reason. Please reach out to our Checkout & Reserves staff at: circulation@coloradomesa.edu or 970.248.1244.)

  • Your PIN, or Personal Identification Number, is going to be your 700#.
    • If you are not a CMU student, staff, or faculty member, you may have a different PIN or need to set one up. Please reach out to our Checkout & Reserves staff at: circulation@coloradomesa.edu or 970.248.1244.

If you do not have a MAVcard or you have trouble with your account, please contact Reference or Circulation to obtain your Library Card Number.
