BIOL 106 Principles of Animal Biology

This guide will help you with your assignment for BIOL 106.

Finding a Popular News Source

You will need to find a current popular article that discusses any species of animal (found in Kingdom Animalia) and based on a peer-reviewed scientific study. The article should have been written in 2020 or 2021. It is helpful if the popular news article references a study. This will help in finding the scientific article.

If you are set on focusing on a specific animal, there are a couple of ways to find a popular article:

  1. A quick Google search that includes the type of animal and add science or scientists or research. (i.e., panda AND science)
    1. Once the results are returned, limit by year. Click on Tools (near the end of the search bar).
    2. Then click on Any Time to set a custom range.
  2. You can also use the database Academic Search Complete.
    1. You can find this database under the A-Z Database list on the library homepage.
    2. Enter the animal you'd like to research.
    3. Once the results are returned, limit by year AND magazine.
