Another way that creators can protect their intellectual property is through Creative Commons Licensing.
Creative Commons licenses work within the auspices of Copyright, allowing creators to share their work in ways that are consistent with copyright law. All Creative Commons licenses require attribution, recognition of the original creator’s work in any subsequent work. Additionally, CC licenses can designate whether the original creator allows derivatives of the work or use of the work for commercial purposes. Creative Commons licensing also allows the ShareAlike designation, requiring subsequent work to be shared under the same terms.
