ARTE 102: 3-D Design, Crocetto

This is intended to help ARTE 102 students with research in 3-D Design.

Scavenger hunt

Please answer the following questions by the end of class using what you learned today. Email your names, class time, and answers to the art & design librarian (adambrosio@coloradomesa.edu) and your professor (jcrocetto@coloradomesa.edu). Amber will award 1-5 points per answer based on the quality of the answer (found the required resource and answered the questions completely with one or two sentences). Amber will email students with the highest scores to receive a small prize for winning the scavenger hunt. This is supposed to be a fun way of practicing what you learned today and thinking about how you find and why you choose certain information for research.

You are allowed and encouraged to ask questions of Amber, your professor, or the librarians at the Research Help Desk on the 1st floor if you get stuck.

  1. Find an art & design book on the shelf. What is the title? Who is the author? What is the call number? How do you think you could use this book when doing research on 3D art?
  2. Find an oversize art & design book on the shelf. What is the title? Who is the author? What is the call number? How do you think you could use this book to research 3D art?
  3. Find a 3D art object in or around the library. Please describe the object (and provide a title if it has one) or take a picture and include it in the email. Why did you choose this object? What stands out to you about this object?
  4. Find an image of a 3D art object on a museum or gallery website. Include a screenshot or copy of the image and create an MLA citation for it. Why did you choose this object? What stand out to you about this object?
  5. Find one of the items on reserve in the library for this course. What is it called? Is it available electronically or for checkout at the Checkout & Reserves Desk?
  6. Find a scholarly article from a library database about the seven deadly sins, the seven cardinal virtues, or religious themes in art. Provide the MLA citation for the article (hint: copy it from the database). Which database did you use? What keywords did you use to find the article? What features (author(s) credentials, publisher, appearance, etc.) identify it as a scholarly article?
